Bani Waleed University is a public Libyan university, founded in 1992 as the Faculty of Education (Sirt University), a number of faculties were added in the following years as parts of Misrata University until 2016 when it was renamed to be Bani Waleed University according to the decision of the Council of Ministers No. (193). The latest resolution (Jan. 2016) by the Government of national accord/Tripoli is to rename it as Bani-Walid University to be an independent university consisting of ten faculties (Arts, Education, Engineering, Economics, Science, Law, Agriculture…..ect).

Bani Waleed University already has a PIC number and is already an active partner in WHEEL project led by Alicante University and IBTIKAR project led by UNIMED both funded by European Commission as a part of Erasmus+ program. BWU is particularly working for forward for cooperation with fellow universities and academic institutions, to promote internationalization, diversity and share experiences through MOU’s and student exchange programs.
Main Filed of Training and Research
The research staff in the different scientific disciplines (Education, Arts, Engineering, Medical Technology, Law, Economics, Agriculture, and Science) work individually or through research teams conducting research related to their specialty. The international Cooperation office organizes a full program to encourage the university staff to publish their work internationally and to register in the important research platforms namely (Google Scholar & Researchgate).
